Backpay helps users scan receipts, estimate return and warranty deadlines, save purchase records, and identify possible savings opportunities. This policy explains what data Backpay handles and how it is used.

Data Backpay handles

Backpay may process receipt text, receipt images, purchase details, merchant names, item names, purchase amounts, purchase dates, estimated return deadlines, warranty dates, local reminder settings, subscription entitlement status, and basic device/app information needed to operate the app.

Local storage

Backpay v1 is local-first and does not require a Backpay account. Saved purchase trackers and receipt evidence are stored on your device unless a feature explicitly sends data for processing, such as AI receipt parsing. You can clear local vault data from the app settings.

AI receipt parsing

When you choose to analyze receipt text or images, Backpay sends that content to Backpay's secure parsing backend, which uses Google Gemini to extract purchase details and estimate deadlines. AI results may be incorrect or incomplete, and you should verify deadlines, prices, and eligibility with the retailer.

Subscriptions

Backpay uses RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlement status and Apple's in-app purchase system for payment. Backpay does not receive or store your full payment card number. Subscription management and cancellation are handled through your Apple account.

Support and deletion requests

If you contact support, we may receive your email address and any information you include in your message. To request help or deletion of data associated with support correspondence or backend processing, email support@usebackpay.com.

Third-party services

Backpay may use service providers including Supabase for backend infrastructure, Google Gemini for AI parsing, RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management, Apple for in-app purchases, and Expo services for app builds and notifications.

No sale of personal data

Backpay does not sell personal data. Backpay uses data to provide app functionality, subscription access, support, security, and product improvement.
